Your exact rate will vary based on factors like your age, driving history, vehicle usage and applicable coverages on your policy. Your insurer will show you how to get the cheapest car insurance in New Jersey.
How do I become a GEICO customer?
Visit the GEICO website to get a customized quote for an auto insurance policy. A local GEICO agent can also help you compare rates and choose the right coverage for your unique situation.
Is an NJ defensive driving course the same as a driver improvement course?
No. In addition to this program, the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission accepts two styles of remedial driver courses.
The cost, duration and point reduction effects of the defensive driving course in New Jersey differ from the state-sponsored Driver Improvement Program (DIP) or the Probationary Driver Program (PDP). This course does not satisfy the requirements for either.
Can I take this course at any time?
Yes. You may sign up for this program voluntarily at any time for the full benefit. Taking this defensive driving course is not a substitute for a Driver Improvement Program or Probationary Driver Program.
DIP is only available to motorists in lieu of a 30-day suspension for accumulating more than 12 points on their license in a 24-month period. The PDP applies only to first-time permit holders who are convicted of at least two moving violations that result in four or more points during the 24-month probationary period. In both cases, drivers must receive a letter of eligibility before signing up with an approved provider.
Unlike the DIP or PDP, you don't have to be notified by mail by the court or other governmental agency in order to take an online defensive driving course. There are no eligibility criteria; this driver safety education course is offered on a purely voluntary basis.
You can sign up and study at any time to become a safer, more responsible motorist and save money on New Jersey car insurance premiums.
