Meets Probationary License Requirements

These courses fulfill Ohio's state-mandated driver's education requirements for teens seeking a probationary license at 16. With 24 hours of engaging online instruction, students who complete this mandatory training will learn everything needed to take the next step toward becoming licensed drivers.

Designed by Experts, Trusted for Teens

Created by AAA Driver Training, these courses reflect a legacy of over 100 years of promoting safe driving. Teens receive expert instruction designed to help them succeed on Ohio's roads.

About the Course

These online courses provide Ohio teens with essential tools for becoming responsible and composed drivers. Approved by the ODPS, the curriculum covers everything from understanding Ohio's traffic laws to mastering key driving skills like navigating intersections, proper use of mirrors and how to brake and accelerate smoothly.

Through interactive lessons, students will learn to maintain safe following distances, navigate construction zones and respond to hazards like night driving or distracted drivers. Our courses prepare teens for the written exam and build the foundation for a lifetime of safe, self-reliant driving.

How It Works

Here's how our online courses work:

  • Choose your course: Select the Ohio online course that fits your needs: Permit Prep, Driver Education or a package that contains both. All options are designed to meet state requirements and prepare teens for their probationary license.
  • Check eligibility: To enroll, students must be at least 15 1/2 years old to obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC). Before applying for a probationary license, students must hold their TIPIC for at least six months.
  • Complete the online lessons: Enroll in our ODPS-approved, 24-hour driver education course. Through engaging, self-paced lessons, students will learn Ohio traffic laws, safe driving habits and defensive driving strategies. Interactive quizzes and videos ensure students retain key information.
  • Practice behind the wheel: State licensing requirements include eight hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor and 50 hours of supervised driving, with a minimum of 10 hours of practice at night.
  • Earn your certificate: After passing the course's final exam, you will receive your completion certificate in your dashboard within five days. Need it faster? Instant certificate delivery is available for an additional fee.
  • Pass the tests: Bring your certificate to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) to schedule your Driving and Skills Test. Once you pass, you'll earn your probationary license and be ready to drive independently.
